Apply for a Professional Grant

“I was lucky enough to be able to attend this year’s 2024 ASTRO conference through a grant from Boston North Cancer Association. This year was particularly important that our radiation oncology team from Beth Israel Lahey Health attend this conference as we move forward with new technology and advanced practices within our radiation oncology departments. Thank you, Boston North Cancer Association, for this grant to allow me to learn about such studies and the positive outcomes these studies brought. I am so excited to bring all of this information back to my team and pass on all my findings.”

Runway for Recovery provides families with a continuum of support along their journey with breast cancer. We create community by hosting events and providing services that create joy and inspire hope. With shared understanding we celebrate survivors, honor legacies, and fund families who have experienced loss.

I wanted to reach out because I worked with Dr. Jonathan Paly today and we were both recipients of the BNCA John F. Bargoot, MD Memorial Scholarship and we are both working in Radiation Oncology.

The goal of the program is to prevent death by cancer among youth. The objectives are to teach high school students how to identify irregularities in their health, advocate for and obtain timely care, and live a healthy lifestyle. The program focuses on equipping students with essential knowledge about what signs to look for, how to self-advocate, and instills the ability and confidence to actively participate in their own healthcare.

Recognizing that ovarian cancer patient may need a little extra help while undergoing treatment, the grant helps fund the Helping Hands program. The program provides meals to patients and their families while in treatment for Ovarian Cancer, with free healthy and easy to prepare meals.

Cancer Retreats

The grant funds Equine-Assisted Experiences (EAE) one-day retreats for cancer survivors using the power of horses to remind survivors of their own strength. The retreats are open to men and women who have, or had, a cancer diagnosis.

Sail Beyond cancer is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to provide life-affirming sailing experiences by harnessing wind, water, and healing powers and sailing for anyone challenged by cancer. The grant funds three-hour sails to cancer patients and their caregivers.

Boston North Cancer Association awarded a grant to the Melanoma Education Foundation to provide facial scanners in 26 North Shore high schools. Facial scanners are an educational tool to help people understand the damaging effects of the sun. Through the use of ultra-violet rays, these scanners allow people to see layers of skin not visible to the naked eye. Used for middle school children through adults, this tool helps identify the areas of your face most impacted by the sun and show the benefits of sunscreen in blocking UV rays.
