His Story
Camilo is from Lynn and attends Lynn Classical High School. He is a high honor roll student taking AP and honor classes.
Camilo has a passion for business and marketing, following in the footsteps of his father. Camilo builds websites, launched social media channels and has completed Google Certificates. He also was a teacher’s assistant for low-income children through the Good Start Project.
Camilo moved to the U.S. from Columbia with his mother when he was sixteen, after losing his father to Multiple Myeloma Cancer. Camilo’s father was diagnosed with cancer when he was 13, and losing him left an unfillable void for his mom and him, because while he was growing up, his father was his biggest hero and friend. Camilo says, “I understand now Life is a gift, and my mom is my company, team and best friend.”
From this perspective of life, Camilo sees his future filled with dreams, learning, laughter, and happiness. His teacher said, “Camilo has demonstrated remarkable resilience, dedication, adaptability and perseverance.
Camilo will be attending Salem State College next fall, studying Business and Marketing.
Debbie Plunkett Memorial Scholarship
Debbie Plunkett of Lynn, passed away after a 10 year battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Debbie faced many obstacles during her battle with cancer and fought with courage and grace till she passed. She had her mantra, “Life is Good!” She always maintained a positive attitude and lived this positive attitude till the end. Debbie’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends through this scholarship, funded by her family and friends.
