Her Story

John Bargoot, MD Memorial Scholarship Recipient – Kyle Kingston

We are proud to name Kyle Kingston as the 2025 recipient of the F. John Bargoot, MD Memorial Scholarship.

Kyle grew up in Swampscott and attended Phillips Academy, graduated cum laude with a perfect 6.0 GPA. She attended Brown University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, graduating magna cum laude with a GPA of 3.96. Kyle is currently a medical student at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she is expected to graduate in June 2027.

Kyle has demonstrated a strong commitment to service through numerous volunteer roles. These include working with Parkinson’s patients, volunteering with Raw Art Works—an after-school art therapy program in Lynn—and serving as a Spanish interpreter at the Rhode Island Free Clinic.

Her academic and research experience is equally impressive. Kyle has contributed to numerous research projects. She has served as a Chemistry Teaching Assistant at Brown and on the McLean’s Women’s Mental Health Council.

While at Brown, Kyle took a Medical Illustration course, from the Rhode Island School of Design and the Alpert Medical School. There, she learned to use visual art as a tool for communicating complex medical concepts—helping patients better understand their care through clear visual explanation.

Kyle’s path to medicine was initially inspired by her father, a physician.

Her “calling” for pediatric oncology medicine deepened when she met a 10-year-old boy with leukemia through the UMass Sidekicks program, which pairs medical students with pediatric patients with chronic illnesses. Kyle credits this young boy as the true inspiration, calling him her “hero.”

Her professor, noted, “She is exceptionally suited for a specialty like oncology, where communication is paramount. Her strengths will be of utmost service to our society.”

Kyle’s aspiration is to bring an arts-integrated, patient-centered approach to pediatric oncology. We are honored to support her on this journey and look forward to watching her make a meaningful impact in the years to come.
