Giuliana Nazzaro – $5,000 Scholarship Recipient

Her Story

The 2025 Herbert Leventhal, MD Honorary Scholarship recipient, Giuliana Nazzaro, is an exceptional student from Boxford and a senior at Masconomet Regional High School. A high honor roll student, she maintains an 5.0 GPA on a 5.3 scale, excelling in AP and Honors courses.

Giuliana has gained hands-on experience in the medical field through internships at Lahey Outpatient Center, Sophia Gordon Cancer Center, Coastal Orthopedics, and Beverly Hospital. She also founded Masco’s Peer Tutoring Program, building it into a successful initiative with 25 peer tutors. In addition, she serves as a Religious Education Teacher, teaching elementary school students.

During her junior year, Giuliana’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer—a life-changing event that reaffirmed her passion for medicine. At the time, she was already volunteering weekly at Beth Israel Lahey Outpatient Center, assisting nurses in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This personal experience deepened her commitment to oncology, leading her to complete 60 hours as a Radiation Oncology Intern in Peabody. She now aspires to become a Radiation Oncologist.

Her school counselor describes her as:

This fall, Giuliana will attend Northeastern University, majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology on a pre-med track, with a minor in Medical Spanish.
