Her Story
Lucille is from Essex, attends Manchester Regional High School, and has a 4.62 GPA. Lucille is on the Science Team, is a Varsity Gymnastic Captain and plays Varsity Lacrosse. She is also a Gymnastic coach, works at Felix Family Farm and has an Internship at Sports Medicine North .
Lucille lost her mother to Gastric Stomach cancer at age 4. She said, “it has been the hardest thing I had to learn to live with; a piece of my identity, my role model missing from my life.”
To fill the void, she has taken Japanese lessons since elementary school, and has stayed with relatives in Japan, experiencing the culture and cooking of Japanese dishes. She says, “These trips have helped me feel closer to my mother.”
Her mother’s cancer has also inspired her to pursue a career in the field of medicine and to improve the lives of others. Lucille’s teacher said, ”Lucy is one of the kindest students I have ever had, always has a smile on her face, and is willing to drop anything to give a helping hand.”
Lucille will be attending Tulane University studying Cell and Molecular Biology, and hopes to attend Medical School thereafter.

Dr. Herbert H. Leventhal was past president and a long-serving member of our Board of Directors. He is a board-certified radiologist, radiation oncologist who considers radiation oncology his true passion. Before entering retirement, he treated patients at Lynn Hospital and Lahey Medical Center.
