How the Grant is Being Used
The grant helps fund LIVESTRONG, a wellness program designed to help adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being following a cancer diagnosis. Offered at the Y’s Saugus, Peabody and Lynn locations, LIVESTRONG is a 12-week program offered twice weekly.
The Torigian YMCA creates a welcoming community in which survivors can improve their strength and physical fitness, diminish the severity of therapy side effects, develop supportive relationships, and improve their quality of life.
A Testimony
“Thank you for your support of LIVESTRONG at the YMCA of Metro North. Your grant support was used for the direct expenses to run this program, including staffing and scholarships. All LIVESTRONG participants receive a free membership during the 12-week program plus a lifetime membership discount of 20% once the program concludes. Participants were between the ages of 36 and 81. We were able to help a 37 year old women who just finished treatment for her second cancer diagnosis. Her physical benefits were great but the social emotional support received from trainers and fellow participants made the biggest difference. Thanks for supporting Livestrong at the YMCA.”
